Wedding photographers should not be seen as another vendor, but as an intricate part of your wedding experience. Choosing a photographer should be handled with as much care and selectivity as choosing a wedding dress. Consider this: The average wedding dress will be worn less than a dozen times in its entire existence, but photographs will be displayed and passed down for generations. Good wedding photographers are not only artists, but good with people. They will honor you by honoring your family and friends with a good attitude, spirit and approach during your wedding day. That is why it is very important that you meet with the photographer to get to know him or her. Many wedding photographers are merely business people with cameras. You should look for a good person who has an incredible talent.
In the coming weeks, I will share 10 tips to help in the wedding photographer search. Here we go:
1) Personality: The photographer you choose to document your wedding will be one of the closest people to you on that day. You should connect with this person. This person needs to be fun, energetic, helpful and calming. A good wedding photographer is always around, but not intrusive or controlling. This is your day and should be about you, not the photographer. Good chemistry makes good pictures. You want to be able to laugh and cry in this person’s presence because you will most likely do both many times on this day. Trust is very important.
HINT: Getting to know your photographer before the rehearsal dinner is very important. Many wedding photographers shoot engagement pictures, and this is a great time to test them out.
